#3: Slinky (1945 but peaked in the 60s and 70s)
Some things just never get old. Slinky, we’re looking at you! This seemingly simplistic metal coil has entertained generations upon generations of kids with its ability to magically “walk” down the stairs. Physics is super cool! The Slinky’s mesmerizing motions were a near-foolproof way to captivate kids’ attention for hours without the use of plugs, batteries, or small parts that could be lost or potentially swallowed.
