Eerie Silence
Kids take notice of their surroundings, just like the person in the rainforest. When this happens, an area can go silent and cause uneasiness, as if something is going to happen. In situations like these, it’s probably best to head home. However, in the scenario with the cougar, it wouldn’t have messed with him anyways.
In fact, since 1900, there have been just 20 cougar deaths. To put that in perspective, over 40,000 people visit the emergency room each year as a result of being attacked by another human. You’re far more likely to get bitten by a classmate than you are to be mauled by a cougar in the woods. That doesn’t suggest I’d enjoy running into a cougar in the woods!
