Chanting about Roger Goodell being a clown led to brand new signs
Fans are not one to hide their emotions. These signs began appearing at NFL stadiums all around the country in 2016, and it was quite evident then that they were expressing their opinions. Tom Brady incurred the ire of many when he was implicated in Deflategate, and people wanted to see him held accountable for his actions. Others? They were a lot more understanding.
Regardless of the situation, Goodell’s decision was final. Many fans were frustrated by how everything had been handled, and it was New England fans who began shouting about how Roger was a clown. It wasn’t long before the term “clown” became popular, and signs with it soon appeared at almost every NFL game – particularly the Patriots’ home games.
