A stash of Goldvreneli
Various quantities and denominations of Vreneli were produced between 1897 and 1949 (10, 20, and 100 francs). Since the middle of the twentieth century, the Goldvreneli has grown in popularity as a collectible. It’s interesting to note that the Vreneli on that coin is actually a Helvetia.
From the Neuchâtel region of Switzerland, artist Fritz Ulysse Landry painted a picture of her. Immediately upon its completion, his portrayal of the matriarch was met with harsh reviews. Just two years ago, one of these coins was worth $310 each. So, the original poster (OP) turned quite the profit–a quick 25 grand!
