A fireplace insert
This is even cooler than the faux fireplace. A fireplace insert is an appliance that fits into an existing hardwood or brick fireplace and provides the main heat source. An insert often consists of the internal walls, grating, and realistic-looking logs of a fireplace.
Logs are constructed from substances like resin rather than wood. In 1896, Joab R. Donaldson developed the first fireplace inserts. These early inserts utilized an electric blower to increase efficiency and used smokeless coal fuel, a byproduct of distilling coal.
