Reach Baseball catalog
The pamphlet itself has a long history. Reach had been a retired baseball player who represented the Athletic Club of Philadelphia during both the new and established eras of the game. He gave up playing in 1875, but four years earlier, he started his sports goods business with Albert Spalding…
Al Reach started his baseball journey in his hometown, Philadelphia. His store specialized in baseball gear, and he was even the producer of the first baseball manual for the National League’s 1876 debut campaign. As if that wasn’t enough, starting from 1883, Al’s “Reach Base Ball” was designated as the American Association’s official ball. What an amazing story!
