Hobbler
During the 1800s, “hobblers” worked in harbors towing vessels and other water vehicles of all sizes into port. The profession was highly desired by young men because of its physically demanding nature and good compensation.
Hobblers had to ensure that cars were towed to the proper location, which necessitated balancing the boats and keeping them in position on the water. Even though the title of this job has changed, it is still carried out—after all, the vessels won’t tow themselves!
