Daguerreotypist
The first camera to be secure enough to be utilized in public was the daguerreotype, which was created and widely used during the mid-1800s. Daguerreotypists were individuals who specialized in using this camera to capture and process images.
Early professional photographers, such as daguerreotypes and calotypes, captured the likenesses of many prominent individuals at the time, including Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. The technique rapidly grew popular until it was eventually supplanted when cheaper and more efficient cameras and processes were developed.
