Redsmith
The name “Redsmith” was derived from the brilliant hue of raw copper. A redsmith, like a blacksmith, worked with copper to produce hardware. This popular employment was first documented in the 1700s.
People who work with copper in this manner today are known as Metalsmiths. Because metalsmiths generally work with a range of metals, the position isn’t identical to that of a Redsmith, but many activities and responsibilities are comparable.
