Book Peddler
Perhaps you’ve come across a door-to-door salesperson from today, but this was far more frequent in the nineteenth century. Some booksellers, rather than establishing a brick-and-mortar store, traveled from house to home trying to sell books and frequently using samples and slick salesmanship.
Although it isn’t as popular, some firms still utilize this sales approach. However, people nowadays react to cold calls as enthusiastically as they did in the past, so the job is far less common than it was decades ago.
