Sending information nowadays is as simple as hitting a button or engaging a touchscreen. It wasn’t always that easy, of course. Dispatch riders were one method for long-distance communication in the early 1900s.
During and between the World Wars, motorbike messengers were known as courier riders in the UK. This was considered a more reliable way of communicating than radio, which might be disrupted or tampered with.
