Soda Jerk
In the early 20th century, being a soda jerk was an excellent opportunity in a small business. This involved servicing soda fountains, serving ice cream, and taking customers’ beverage orders in a compact store. Young people particularly enjoyed this work.
Soda jerks were known for wearing a bow tie and paper cap while working to serve the public. However, as these little-time soda shops were rapidly overwhelmed by the swiftly expanding fast food industry, this job has gradually disappeared.
