Delaware – Fancy Politicians
Many of the old photographs taken in the United States feature high-ranking politicians. At that time, not everyone could afford or had access to have their picture taken because pictures were costly and uncommon. Taking a photo was difficult then, as it is now with our phones, and it required complete stillness for around 15 minutes to ensure the picture didn’t turn out blurry.
Benjamin Thomas Biggs had his photo taken when he was a member of the Whig Party, as seen in this image. The photograph was taken in 1860. He went on to become the 46th Governor of Delaware later.
