Florida – A Fort During The Civil War
Florida fought for the Confederate States throughout the Civil War but swiftly fell. This photograph was taken from the Library of Congress archives by San Cooley, a Union supporter, somewhere in 1862.
This photo depicts St. Augustine’s Fort, which was taken by the Federal Navy and used for seaborne operations during the Civil War. Though not specifically said, it appears that the federal navy is standing side-by-side at the top of the wall.
