Nevada – William Morris’s Portrait
Nebraska’s former congressman, Morris Morris Stewart, was able to obtain his own portrait back in the day. He began his political career as a California legal officer. Still, He quickly transitioned into a senator who fought for the silver standard rather than the better-known best quality gold standard at the time.
He was a civil war veteran and served in the Nevada territorial militia. He also established the state’s constitution before joining the Union sometime in 1864.
