North Carolina – Captain William F. McRorie
Although guns were gaining popularity among the war-makers and fighters during the Civil War, swords were still utilized. In general, soldiers would prefer to keep utilizing their swords since they appeared to make things easier in close combat.
At the start of the Civil War, photographs were a normal duty of officers and troopers. In this snap from 1861, Capt. William F. McRorie is shown with his sword. It was regular for captains and troopers to be photographers during the Civil War.
