Wisconsin – A Missionary
B.R Wilson was a Methodist missionary in Liberia when he was photographed in 1840. With the aim of getting into the lead mining sector, many individuals were moving to Wisconsin at the time, and it had been dubbed the Badger State by 1846. By the end of the decade, with half of all US lead produced there, it had become known as the Badger State.
The cold weather, especially on the slopes of the hills, was one of the most important reasons for the state’s increasing lead mining success.
