Wyoming – Bitter Creek
Looking at this photograph closely, you’ll notice a group of men working. In 1870, Andrew Russell captured the trench that was cut into Bitter Creek in this photo. For about 80 miles, Bitter Creek runs throughout the state of Wyoming.
The Creek was a popular destination for coal miners not only in the 19th century but also throughout history. It served as a railroad line at the time, with Russell, one of the most renowned photographers capturing the area between 1868 and 1870.
