#10: Thunder in winter means snow in seven days
An old rule says that hearing thunder during winter starts a seven-day countdown to snow. Occasionally the atmosphere cooperates just well enough to keep the legend alive. Winter thunderstorms often occur near strong weather systems, and colder air can follow one of those systems, creating conditions where another disturbance later produces snow. That is a possibility, not a schedule.
