#4: Milk Bottle Caps
Long before the POG craze of the 1990s, kids played a similar game with cardboard milk bottle caps. During the Depression, it was a common pastime, a way to have fun with something that would otherwise be thrown away. The game itself came from a Japanese game called Menko, brought over by immigrants. When dairies switched away from these caps in the 1950s, the game was mostly forgotten. It took a teacher in Hawaii in the 1990s to bring it back, using caps from a fruit juice drink.
