Discovered in Stockholm at just 14, Nena von Schlebrügge came to London and then New York, quickly landing work in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. She had a fresh, Nordic look that hinted at the styles of the coming decade. While she modeled into the 60s, she eventually left the industry, married Dr. Robert Thurman, and raised a family. You may know her famous daughter, the actress Uma Thurman.
