High school is a chaotic mix of experiences, filled with moments that shape our identity. Many of us believed that certain items and experiences would guarantee our popularity. For some reason, these symbols seemed to assure friendship and acceptance during those challenging years. Spoiler: we just had to be ourselves.

#1: Having the “Right” Brand of Jeans

In high school, wearing a certain brand of jeans felt heavier than it should have. Brands like Levi’s, Guess, and JNCO were not just articles of clothing, they were status symbols. If you wore them, you were part of the “in” crowd. Talks about trending styles were really powerful, making a good pair feel like a ticket to popularity.
