The Baade 152 Comes To A Tragic End
Another plane on our list that was a failure and had a horrible finish is the Baade 152. The plane, which was designed in East Germany, was the country’s first airliner. It was based on the concept of a bomber plane, with outrigger wheels on the wing tips…which works well for bombs but not so well for airline flights.
The Baade 152 crashed on its second test flight due to this and other design problems. The crash claimed the lives of all of the crew members. Is there another issue? As it dropped from the skies, the plane’s fuel lines failed. In 1961, the project was shelved.
