What It’s Like To Fly In A Yak-42 (Hint: It’s Not Fun)
The Yakovlev Yak-42 is a passenger jet plane that is not well-liked by those who write about such things. One such critic, Sir Halffast, talked about his experiences on board the Yak-42 in a Jalopnik magazine piece. “It’s appalling to think that a plane of this ‘caliber’ is still flying in 2013,” Halffast said.
He didn’t stop there, describing numerous ways in which he had been disappointed. “For starters, on a 6’0′′ man, the top of the entry door is chest height. And, of course, it has the dreadful Soviet seats that fold flat forward on command. And there’s the back stairwell, which shakes as if it’s about to open at any moment.”
