The Island’s Trailer Made Potential Viewers Weary of the Plot
Michael Bay’s The Island bombed in theaters. Many claims were made to attempt and explain the movie’s failure, but it was most likely due to Dreamwork’s shoddy marketing, despite their impressive $35 million budget. It was then the trailers that created doubt in audience members’ minds – or should we say plots as the two parts of the movie seem hardly connected.
The first half of the movie is a very dark and ethical take on the rise of computers, while the second half is all about action scenes. Both halves are good when viewed separately, but they don’t work as well together in one movie.
