Boom goes the dynamite
The phrase “boom goes the dynamite” was created by Brian Collins while he was in his first year of college. Brian had to fill in for a sports journalist that suddenly got sick, but the teleprompter operator made a mistake and set it to fast-forward. Consequently, Brian couldn’t keep up with what was scrolling on the screen, so he ended up improvising most of the report–which is how he came up with the memorable phrase.
The video’s popularity spiked after it was uploaded onto the internet in 2005. The phrase Brian used in the video has become a global expression since then. He graduated from university and got a job as a local journalist for a news station located in Texas afterward.
