#6: Joan Jett – Joan Jett and The Blackhearts
Joan Jett attended Wheaton High School in Maryland before moving to Los Angeles, where her true rock journey ignited. Music soon took priority over the classroom. By age 16, she co-founded the groundbreaking all-female punk-rock band The Runaways. Their raw energy and hits like “Cherry Bomb” shattered industry barriers, laying the groundwork for the grit that would later define her solo career with The Blackhearts.
