We’re kicking off a new series we like to call, “The Year You Were Born,” where we dive deep into all things pop culture, decade by decade! We’ve landed square inside the swingin’ sixties, and are looking at the films you know and love that celebrated their debut between 1960 and 1969. The sixties really were a golden era for classic cinema, with ample proof in the following slides. And though we’re particularly a fan of Julie Andrews, the cast list is positively star-studded. Of course, we couldn’t list every movie from the decade. Which ones did we leave out that you believe are classic icons from this bygone era?
#1: Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
This 1967 biographical film starring Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty depicts the criminal life of romantic outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. This New Hollywood era film has everything from romance to crime, drama, and action, all with plenty of style, violence, and a rebellious spirit. It earned significant commercial acclaim in the 60s after its release and remains a cult favorite to this day.
