#18: Ed Harris Almost Drowned, The Abyss
I think there are few things much scarier than being trapped with no ability to save yourself and just the thought in your head that you are going to die. Even though Harris was eventually rescued, this experience would probably have been enough to put him off diving for life.
As I read more and more of these stories, I’m beginning to believe that working in the film industry is much more dangerous than other jobs. While I’m sure miners, policemen, firemen, and electricity workers still face somewhat greater risks, I would be interested to see the statistics. Best to do something in an office.
