Susan was born in Scotland, in Blackburn more precisely, in 1961. Her mother was a typist and aged 47 at the time. Her father was a war veteran called Patrick. Her mother’s name was Bridget. The couple had 9 children and Susan was the last one.

The pregnancy was a difficult one. Susan didn’t get enough oxygen while in the womb so after the birth she was diagnosed with mild brain damage.
