#25: We’re Not In Kansas Anymore
Although this photo has nothing to do with the Wizard of Oz, that’s the first thing that comes to mind when we look at it, hence the title. What really happened here? During a colossal flood in 1920, this house dramatically slid down the embankment, plunging into the water below. The exact mechanics behind this phenomenon remain unclear, suggesting that the construction standards of the era might have lacked the robust foundations necessary to withstand such extreme weather events.
Regardless of the cause, the image captured is undeniably interesting. It serves as a testament to the force of nature and the vulnerability of human structures in the face of natural calamities, which we’re unfortunately still familiar with today. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the unpredictable power of the elements and the resilience required to navigate through them.
