A Sense Of Delirium
In the middle of his run, Dale pulled over to shine his flashlight on a dark pool of water that was just ahead of him. He was positive that they were heading back in the same path that they had traveled, but he was unable to determine their course. Below ground, the senses of navigation were rendered worthless, and the only thing that could be used to lead one through the identical-looking passageways was a flashlight.
It broke his heart to realize that they were gone forever. After then, he noticed something sparkle in the far corner of the flooded room. It was a reflection that caught the light and reflected it back into his retina. Dale, who was now feeling crazy and had lost all ability to think, began to wade through the water shakily in the direction he thought he spotted it. Mike was aware of Dale’s plans and made an effort to stop him, but Dale was too weak to challenge Mike’s authority. He slid down the entryway, sat on the wet ground, and watched helplessly as the situation unfolded.
