#23: The Brady Bunch
The Brady Bunch isn’t remembered just for its iconic three-by-three grid opening credits but also for being revolutionary in its portrayal of what a family is. It was one of the first sitcoms to portray a blended family following a second marriage, resonating with many viewers in the same situation.
But while being progressive about the family structure, the network simultaneously ensured it was conservative in other ways. The network censors would not allow a toilet to be shown on TV, so the kids’ bathroom just didn’t have a toilet. At least, that’s the rumored explanation going around.
