In a twist of poetic justice, a Mel Gibson-inspired effigy, once perched at the base of Scotland’s Wallace Monument, has found itself imprisoned within steel confines. The contentious statue, more a nod to Hollywood’s “Braveheart” than the storied William Wallace, became a magnet for defacement during its decade-long vigil.
