Airbnb used to be considered a great alternative to hotels if you’re on vacation or on a business trip. Many people used to prefer it over a hotel because it was cheaper. Plus many people don’t like the feeling of alienation you sometimes get in a hotel room and they did like the home-like atmosphere of an Airbnb. But then, things started to go sour. More and more Airbnb hosts started giving their guests ridiculous lists of rules, limitations, and chores they need to do before they check out.

Apparently many Airbnbs require you to clean up, take out the trash, and do laundry, even though they are charging you a very high cleaning fee. After comedian Caleb Hearon tweeted that he’s had enough of Airbnb and going back to hotels, many other people started posting about their horrible Airbnb experiences too. From no toilet paper to no air conditioning, from crazy rules to fines for not doing your chores properly – some of these are truly infuriating. Some Airbnb hosts have really got a nerve!
I Don’t Even Know You
Hahaha! This is very true. Not always, obviously, but there is really a grain of truth in this. As this post points out, hotels are fun. They are so fun in fact that sometimes you go to a hotel in your own city just because it is fun. There is a pool and a mini bar and a lobby and a breakfast buffet.

If you stay at a hotel, it doesn’t even matter where you are! The hotel itself is the fun part. Airbnb, on the other hand, is just housesitting for someone you don’t know and you have to pay them. It might be convenient, comfortable, or cheaper than a hotel, but you wouldn’t take an Airbnb in your own city just for fun, would you? Food for thought.
