Other times, however, despite all that fancy advertising, a product simply flops. #1: McDonald’s Onion Nuggets (1970s)
Before the iconic Chicken McNuggets hit the scene in the 1980s, McDonald’s tested Onion Nuggets. Bute-sized and battered, these deep-fried onions were marketed as a side dish or a tasty snack. Unfortunately for MickyD’s, the item failed to gain a wide audience. Even though they didn’t stay on the menu for very long, Onion Nuggets helped to pave the way for more nugget-shaped offerings.
