The 70s may be long gone, but that doesn’t mean we can’t revisit some of the greatest hits of the decade or discover new songs from that time. This decade was packed with so many great hits, it’s only natural that some have now been forgotten from our collective memory—but they deserve to be remembered. We’re here today to take a look at some of those once-beloved hits no one seems to talk about anymore.
#1: Chuck Berry – “My Ding-a-Ling”
Now rather forgotten, many people have no idea that “My Ding-a-Ling” is even a real song. It’s true it was intended as a novelty, but the song is indeed a real release. The Chuck Berry version is actually a cover—and his only number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S.

This song was once considered quite controversial, as it’s in the voice of an innocent child talking about quite adult topics. The same year it reached number one in the U.S., a Christian morality campaigner tried to encourage the BBC to ban it, but was unsuccessful.
