With the way home computers have not only wormed their way into our daily lives but also our pockets in the form of cell phones, it’s crazy to think that just a few decades ago, people were thumbing their noses at the prospect. In the 1970s, the personal computer was a foreign concept, a futuristic fantasy dismissed as overkill for the average household.
Back then, computers were the behemoths of the business world, not domestic companions. It took visionaries who saw past the skepticism, who understood that these machines could do more than crunch numbers for conglomerates—they could become the gateways to knowledge, connection, and entertainment in our homes.
