#30: Pledge of Allegiance
Every country has its own form of the national anthem, but not everybody is as crazy about theirs as we are. Saying the Pledge of Allegiance is a tradition that dates back to 1892, when Francis Bellamy, a Baptist minister and Christian socialist, wrote it for a magazine called “The Youth’s Companion” to promote patriotism in schools.
However, the original anthem has changed over the years. For example, “my flag” was changed to “the flag of the United States,” and in 1954, “under God” was added. But it’s not just about the words; it’s about the intention behind them, to show loyalty and respect for our country.
