Grip Game Sneakers Unveiled
In the feverish intensity of the ’97 NBA Finals Game 5, Preston Truman, an 18-year-old Utah Jazz ball boy, made a memorable deal with the King of the Court himself, Michael Jordan. Despite battling flu symptoms and an IV drip earlier, Jordan played on and spotted Truman, rewarding the lad’s previous apple sauce fetch with a special request: to handle some ticket deliveries.
In a stroke of boldness, Truman asked to keep Jordan’s game-worn sneakers as a memento. Jordan agreed, and years later, in 2013, those very shoes netted Truman a cool $104,765 at auction. Quite the slam dunk for a bit of hustle!.
