29. I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke and Keep It Company
Well, this one is a bit of a misnomer. More accurately, a real former Japanese Samurai could have tasted Coca-Cola. The Samurai caste was abolished in the 1870s, while Coca-Cola first came out in 1886. Still, plenty of former Samurai would have been alive at this time.
It was originally marketed as a patent medicine, not a beverage for enjoyment. Coca-Cola was not marketed and sold in Japan until June 1957, so it would have to be a former Samurai traveling to the US to have had one. But hey, anything’s possible!
