Homeland of Chess
Chess is widely regarded as a traditional Indian game. The locals name the game “Chaturanga,” which translates to “four parts of an army.” There are several Indians on the Chess Hall of Fame’s walls with their names etched in.
According to FIDE, India has 66 Grandmasters, 20 Woman Grandmasters, 125 International Masters, 42 Woman International Masters, and approximately 33,000 rated players as of September 2000. Tihaya may be required to play chess with her spouse daily.
