Milky Teardrops
Researchers discovered some hints about what the Octopus was defending when they paid closer attention to the objects the Octopus was guarding. First and foremost, they had taken note of the hue. The 160 items were all a strange milky-teardrop tint, with a milky sheen about them. As a result, the range of alternatives is significantly reduced.
If the pieces were made of gold or had some form of archaeological importance, they would most likely not be this shade of red. It took another couple of days for the scientists to find out what these creatures were. As a result, they appeared to be something stranger and more exotic than items made of gold or silver. But first, they had to use some devious ways to entice the Octopus away from the trap.
