He Took Things Into His Own Hands, Seeking Inspiration And Enthusiasm In Life
Raley battled with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) while still striving to be the best husband and father he could be. As a result, he made the decision to take things into his own hands, in an effort to rediscover drive and enthusiasm in his life again. Fortunately, adapted sports such as wheelchair basketball and cycling, often known as “handcycling,” provided him with comfort. It wasn’t long until Raley came across The Boot Campaign, an organization that helps veterans improve their lives while helping them transition from military to civilian life.
Rick is now making his journey across the United States, attempting to raise awareness and funds for this wonderful effort in the process. Cycling 1,500 miles from New York to Florida, where the Wounded Warriors Abilities Ranch is situated, the veteran hopes to raise money for the ranch. Raley intends to raise a minimum of $150,000 for this great charitable endeavor. It is tales like this one that inspire us and make us thankful for all of the brave warriors who serve our country.
