#8: Tamagotchi Prototype: The Pet Rock (1975)

Created as a tongue-in-cheek job at consumerism, The Pet Rock took off in a really big way in 1975, petering out after that. The precursor to the digital toy, Tamagotchi, which exploded onto the scene in the ’90s and early 2000s, The Pet Rock would make a fun and funny gift for someone who loves nostalgia or for a kid (little or grown) with a fascination for minimalism.
