#12: Rocko’s Modern Life
There was a time when Rocko’s Modern Life was one of Nickelodeon’s most beloved cartoons. The show followed Rocko, an anthropomorphic wallaby trying to navigate the insanities of modern life in the fictional O-Town. We’re right there with you, Rocko. The show’s humor and themes were ironic and sarcastic with underlying social commentary and surrealist animation, which made it quite relatable.
Despite being a cartoon, it was definitely not a show for kids, as it was able to tackle a host of serious themes, from corporate greed to the largest-scale environmentalism. It’s remembered fondly by fans to this day, but it still remains one of those Nickelodeon shows that doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves.
