#14: Wings
Set in a small airport in Nantucket, Wings (1990-1997) tells the story of two brothers operating an airline that’s doing pretty badly while navigating their personal drama and dating lives in the 90s. Starring Tim Daly, Steven Weber, and Tony Shalhoub, among many others, it had just the right combination of humor and poignancy.
Wings was a comfort show for many during the 90s, blending workplace drama with extended-family sitcom tropes in a laid-back setting (well, if you don’t count the nutty airline passengers). Considering it ran for eight seasons and found an intensely devoted fan base, it somehow falls out of many discussions on 90s sitcoms, like Friends or Seinfeld.
