23. Two Empires in the Span of 2,000 Years
The Roman Empire was founded in 27 BC, and the Ottoman Empire was dissolved in 1922, meaning there were nearly 2,000 years of just these two empires continuously existing. Both are remarkably long-lived as well.
With the Ottomans lasting for nearly 600 years, and if you count the survival of the Byzantine Empire, Rome existed for over 1,000. It is the longest-lived Empire to date. The fact that these two empires spanned the entirety of 2,000 years is mind-boggling.
