Prepared To Provide Care
Scrubs, the hygienic attire worn by medical personnel and often consisting of a T-shirt and trousers, are easily recognisable by the vast majority of patients and visitors who go to a hospital. In the past, a dress, an apron, and a cap were the typical items of clothing worn by nurses. This costume was modelled after the habit worn by nuns.
Alterations to nursing uniforms were brought about by fabric technology advancements and revised hygiene regulations. Plastic aprons and disposable hats rapidly became the usual attire, but they were eventually phased out in favour of scrubs and tunics as those garments gained more popularity. Despite the fact that nurse uniforms are supposed to be gender neutral, there are still some men who choose to wear green or blue nursing scrubs. On the job, nurses are not allowed to wear jewellery to maintain their hands’ cleanliness.
