Ender’s Game Isn’t a Game at All… and the Poster Make Sure You Knew That
Readers of the book already know the plot twist for Ender’s Game, but those who haven’t read it would have experienced it for the first time if the marketing team hadn’t spoiled it. In reality, throughout his entire training process, Ender believed he was playing a video game when he was actually fighting real creatures.
Without knowing it, he erases an entire alien race – and only afterward does he realize the weight of his actions. That’s a pretty big plot twist that would have been much more effective if the movie poster hadn’t already revealed the truth to viewers beforehand. The tagline for the film is “This is no game,” which essentially defeats Ender’s realization at the end.
